More than 10,000 new job openings -- the highest in 22 months -- were posted on the SaskJobs.ca web site in August, according to information released by the provincial government Friday. ÂAdvanced Education, Employment and Immigration Minister Rob Norris said those 10,318 jobs postings demonstrate there are many job opportunities in the province. ÂThe government-run SaskJobs.ca web site is "a hub site for job seekers in Saskatchewan, in Canada and around the world,'' Norris added, in a news release. ÂMore than 750,000 visits were made to the web site in August and there have been about six million visits so far this year. ÂOf the jobs listed in August, about 73 per cent were full-time. ÂAbout 51 per cent of the jobs posted were outside of Regina and Saskatoon. ÂJobs are normally posted for up to 30 days on the site before being taken down. ÂA total of 7,492 jobs were listed on the site on Friday. The largest number of postings (2,548) were for jobs in the sales and service category. ÂThere were also many openings (2,051) in the trades, transport and equipment operators category, where a shortage of skilled workers has been a problem in some cases. ÂJobs listings were also posted for a wide variety of other occupations. Âhttp://www.leaderpost.com/business/pleased+with+site/3481736/story.html  |
