Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)

If you are thinking about immigration to Charlottetown, or any other city in Prince Edward Island (PEI), consider the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).

Successful applicants will receive a Prince Edward Island Provincial Nomination Certificate, which will speed-up the Canada Immigration (Permanent Resident) Visa application process.

Under the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), you may qualify under one of four categories:

Prince Edward Island PNP Skilled Worker

To qualify in the Skilled Worker category, an applicant must have:

  • Scored at lease 50 points on the PEI PNP Self-Assessment form;

  • A Prince Edward Island job offer;

  • Education and training consistent with the position offered;

  • A command of the English and French language if required for the position; and

  • The intention to settle in Prince Edward Island.

Prince Edward Island PNP Immigrant Entrepreneur

To qualify in the Immigrant Entrepreneur category, an applicant must:

  • Have a minimum net worth of CDN $400,000;

  • Make a minimum investment of CDN $200,000 to establish a new enterprise or to purchase an existing business (at least 1/3 ownership);

  • Have a business plan that makes sense in the Prince Edward Island business environment;

  • Deposit CDN $100,000, which is held in escrow and returned to the Nominee after one year's residency and the establishment of the business;

  • Deposit CDN $25,000 in good faith that is refunded after applicant has resided in PEI for one year;

  • Escrow CDN $20,000 with the Government of PEI should the applicant's capacity in English or French be insufficient to be interviewed in that language. This language deposit will be returned if the applicant can later demonstrate moderate language skills, in English or French; and

  • Meet at least some of the following criteria:

  1. Be less than 55 years of age;

  2. Have a minimum 14 years of education, including one (or more) post-secondary certificates or degrees;

  3. Be capable of being interviewed in English or French; and

  4. Have several years of management or business ownership experience in a sector relevant to the PEI economy.

Prince Edward Island PNP Immigrant Partner

The Immigrant Partner category is intended for applicants who propose to make an investment in a PEI company and to take an active role as director or senior manager in the company. To qualify in the Immigrant Partner category, an applicant must:

  • Have a minimum net worth of CDN $400,000;

  • Make a CDN $200,000 investment in an eligible PEI company through an Investment Intermediary;

  • Deposit CDN $25,000 in good faith that is refunded after applicant has resided in PEI for one year;

  1. Be between 21 and 49 years of age;

  2. Have a minimum 12 years of education (high school);

  3. Be capable of being interviewed in English or French; and

  4. Have at least 5 years of management or business ownership experience in a sector relevant to the PEI economy.

Prince Edward Island PNP Immigrant Connections

Canadian citizens or Permanent Residents living in PEI can request that the PEI government nominate their close family members for Canadian Permanent Residency. To make such a recommendation, PEI residents must meet the criteria of a "Champion".
To qualify as a Champion, an individual must:

  • Have lived in PEI for more than two years as a Canadian Permanent Resident or citizen;

  • Have a regular source of income sufficient for their needs and the needs of their dependents; and

  • Have an unblemished personal history.

To be recommended by a Champion, applicants must:

  • Have the intention to live in PEI;

  • Prove that they are an eligible family member of the Champion's (parent or grandparent, child or grandchild, sibling, cousin, niece or nephew, aunt or uncle);

  • Have an offer of employment or, in the view of the Province, a capacity to work in PEI; and

  • Be in good health with no criminal record.
